The Encounter of Traditional Japanese Techniques and Modern Kitchens

Metalworking has been an integral part of Japanese craftsmanship since the 13th century. The country boasts a rich history of metal casting, sword making, and more recently, steel processing, encompassing the creation of some of the finest musical instruments and blades.

Through generations of inherited techniques, the exquisite sword-making skills have continued to this day. Japanese steel is considered one of the best and most sought-after steels in the world.

What precautions should be taken when using a Japanese Sakura Blade kitchen knife?

Due to the high hardness of the steel, do not cut frozen food or chop bones, as the blade may chip.
- After use, please hand wash with a sponge in cold or warm water as soon as possible, and then gently dry with a towel or microfiber cloth. Even knives made of materials that are not prone to rust may rust slightly if they are placed in a very humid environment for a long time (for example, if they are soaked in the sink after use and then washed after a long time).
- Under normal use, the blade will remain sharp without needing to be sharpened for up to a year.

- If you need to sharpen the knife yourself later, you can use a whetstone with a grit of 6000 or higher.
